music filled summer.

Looking into the summer months, I thought I’d do a little post about music from what I’m listening to at the moment to what albums I’m looking forward to. I realised last night while listening to Arctic Monkey’s new album that there is a lot of good music around at the monent or set to come out soon, so here’s my short look at some of them.

Favourites At The Moment

Panic! At The Disco – Vices and Virtues.

This is undoubtedly my favourite album at the moment, it came out quite a long time ago now and I didn’t buy it because I wanted to hear more songs. It got mixed reviews but when I went to see them and heard the songs from the album I realised it was seriously good. The album doesn’t disappoint, it’s back to the sound they had on their first album rather than their second album. Amazing album, definitely worth a listen.
Favourite song from the album – Hurricane.

The Wombats – This Modern Glitch.

I’ve quite liked this band since their first album with the singles from that being very good. Again, the singles from this album are very good if not better than their old stuff so I bought the album. I don’t regret it either, it’s a very good indie album. Perfect for summer and a good stand out piece of music from a not overly exciting indie scene at the moment.
Favourite song from the album – Techno Fan.

Brand New

Save Your Breath – Vices.

This is the debut album from the Welsh quintet and after listening to it for the first time today, it is amazing. I first heard of this band a few years ago when I saw them supporting Kids In Glass Houses, they were very good live and I’ve listened to their music from then. Hearing this album now is so good, an amazing debut, and I will have it on heavy rotation, definitely one to check out.

Friendly Fires – Pala.

I’ve been a massive fan of this band for a while, I really love their music and sound. The new album came out a couple of weeks ago and I am yet to hear it but I have heard nothing but good things about it and I look forward to giving it a listen as soon as possible. I can imagine it will be a good album for the summer and festival season.

Coming Soon

Arctic Monkeys – Suck It And See.

The fourth album from the Sheffield boys looks set to put them back at the very top of the UK’s indie scene. With not a very good reception to their last record by some fans, this album is very much the arctic monkeys we know and love but they haven’t just put out a ‘Whatever People Say I Am..’ part 2. It shows how far they have come as a band but it still has their signature sound. I’ve listened to the stream of this album from their website and it is really really good. I lost my way with the band after their 2nd and 3rd albums but I do really like this, it’s a return to form for the band and it is sure to be one of the albums of the summer.

All Time Low – Dirty Work.

Maryland quartet All Time Low are set to release their fourth album in a week or so and it is set to be a good album. I’ve only heard one song from the album so far and I quite like it, I’ve never been the biggest All Time Low fan in the world but I’m willing to give the album a listen. I’ve read a few reviews about it, a lot of them praising the album saying how good it is. Apparently, the album has leaked online [don’t all albums seem to do that nowadays] but if like me you want to actually wait to buy the CD then it is out 6/6/11.

Also, there has been new music from Kaiser Chiefs and Kasabian promised for very soon. Kaiser Chiefs new single was aired last night on Zane Lowe’s show and it is a very good song, I really like it. Also, there is set to be a new Kids In Glass Houses album for the end of summer, first single from the album ‘Gold Blood’ was played on Zane Lowe’s show last week and it is insanely good, definitely an album I am looking forward to listening to as well as looking forward to the band’s return.
