Reading and Leeds Announcement – Line Up Additions.

So, it was announced on Zane Lowe’s show last night, the next 6 acts that will be gracing the stages at Reading and Leeds over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Joining Eminem headlining the festival is Biffy Clyro which in my opinion is a truly deserved slot for the band. After years of hard work, being the underdog but consistently producing brilliant music and upping their game the band finally have one of the most sought after headline slots of any festival in the world. The Scottish trio also achieved their very 1st Number 1 album this weekend with new release ‘Opposites’, an absolutely brilliant double album which I reviewed here. Well done Biffy Clyro on an amazing 2013 so far and it’s only bound to get better as this surely becomes their year.

Other acts announced are System of a Down who reformed for Download Festival 2 years ago and a band I’m really excited about playing as I really do love them, I can’t wait to relive my 13 year old mosher kid days during their set. Bring Me The Horizon is another big act and one that have proven over their career that they produce amazing music and put on amazing shows earning them big festival slots. I’ve seen them a few times and at Leeds Festival in 2011 they were brilliant so with a new album behind them this year it’s bound to be another good one from them. Jake Bugg, a guy who last year was only just starting to really filter through into the music industries knowledge now he’s on one of the biggest festival stages in the UK over the summer, what an amazing 12 months it has been for him.

Now I’m going to try and write about these next two acts objectively but I don’t think I will be able to stop myself from getting a little bit excited about this, I’m just warning you all in advance. Firstly, Foals at Leeds Festival was honestly the best news I have heard in a long while, it’s something I had been wishing for but wasn’t sure if it would happen. It has happened and I know for a fact that they will be one of, if not, THE band of the weekend. They are brilliant live and they will have had a few months of new release ‘Holy Fire’ being around too, I said this was going to be Biffy’s year well I definitely know it is going to be Foals year as well. I am looking forward to their set more than anything.

And finally the news that made me 15 year old self the happiest girl in the world, not only have Fall Out Boy gone and reformed yesterday but they playing Reading and Leeds too!! Me and my friend totally called it, as I’m sure many others did, but just hearing the confirmation from Zane on the radio was brilliant! I’m so looking forward to their set, I never saw them back when they were around the first time, which disappoints me as I was a huge fan. This though is brilliant news for so many fans in England and the rest of the UK and I think it is going to be such a brilliant moment for so many people.

What do you think of the Reading and Leeds announcement? Is it good or bad? Who would you like to see added to the current acts playing?
