tracks of the week #3

Bring Me The Horizon – Shadow Moses

The band released their 4th album this week, which I reviewed here, it’s another brilliant effort from the Sheffield band. This was the first song to be released from the album and caused a bit of a social media storm from all the fans who were raving about how brilliant the song is. I have to agree, it really is one of the standout tracks on ‘Sempiternal’.

Biffy Clyro – Biblical

New single taken from the Scottish band’s new album ‘Opposites’, it is a song bound to be a live favourite, with it’s epic sounding chorus filled with big drums and strings, from a band who are always praised for their brilliant live shows.

METZ – Knife in the Water

The pounding drums that open this track warm you up for just how loud and heavy this track is going to be, heavy bass sounds, loud guitar and screaming vocals all add to the noise on offer from the band. One of my favourite acts around at the minute.

Holy Other – Feel Something

Famed for being a mysterious creator of ambient and experimental music, this track has some wonderful layered sounds of intermittent pounding drum beats, synths and heavily distorted high pitched vocal noises. This track is from 2007’s excellent EP ‘With U’ and the debut album ‘Held’ released last year was one of my personal albums of the year, a really great music maker and one everyone should give a listen to.

My Chemical Romance – Famous Last Words

It’s been a week or two since MCR announced their split and they are still dominating the rock music press with statements about this, that and the other. Even though they may have called it a day we still have their genre defining music to listen to. This particular track is my favourite by the band and I also have some of the lyrics tattooed on me, this song will always mean a lot to me and at a time like this after their announcement it is only right I feature it on here.
