tracks of the week #11

It finally feels like summer with the sun shining and some higher temperatures in the UK this week so this week some more summery tracks, the first two brand new tracks and the last two are tracks of last summer for me specifically Leeds Festival. I randomly saw Niki and The Dove for the first time last year at Leeds after not hearing of them before and they were one of the best bands of the whole weekend for me, they blew me away with how good they were and they will always remind me of last summer and that Leeds Fest outing.

Disclosure – Defeated No More [feat. Ed Macfarlane]

So the eagerly awaited debut from Disclosure was released this week and last week a lot of tracks were given special previews on Radio 1 or were to be found all over the internet and social networks. This was the one track I really wanted to hear, after it was confirmed that Friendly Fires lead singer Ed Macfarlane was featuring on one of the dance producer duos tracks I was excited to hear the results and the song doesn’t disappoint. Ridiculously high pitched yet soulful vocals from Macfarlane are placed against a brilliant beat and some wonderful electronic house sounds. As a whole the album is so good and for me this is one of the standout tracks

Lone – Airglow Fires

A couple of years ago Lone released his brilliant debut album ‘Galaxy Garden’, this week sees his return with the online preview of this brand new track. Hi-hats a plenty and some great synths all rounded up with an epic drop, this is a brilliant comeback track from the Nottingham based producer.

Niki and The Dove – Under The Bridges

An utterly brilliant live act and one that creates synth filled songs with epic sounding choruses, plenty of percussion and some beautiful vocals. This is one of the most perfect summer songs and sounds completely amazing in the setting of a festival field.

Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks

Probably one of the most upbeat, feel good songs around and a total festival/summer anthem of last year. It’s catchy, it will have you singing and whistling along and it will have you dancing everything you could ever need in one 4 minute long indie pop tune.
