new music: florida room

London quartet Florida Room made up of Michael Perera, Martin Moore, Frazer Twyman and Jelle Ijsbrandy have spent the past two years in a shared studio in Elderfield Studios, East London writing and recording the tracks for their debut. After already releasing a couple of EP’s the band have perfected their fast tempoed indie guitar music which will surely set them in good stead for the debut’s release.

With the strength of music released so far it surely means their first album will be a solid release full of good songs. Their guitar led songs full of melodies, plenty of rhythm that will get you swaying along to the tune and lyrics that tell a story are a perfect mix. Some of their songs are calmer and focus fully on the melody while others are more upbeat with pop sensibilities added to their indie rock sound.

The release of their debut EP ‘Afer the Autumn Hours’ in late 2012 saw the band gain momentum touring wise, picking up fans along the way. They played plenty of shows in and around London all of which sold out and that sort of popularity landed the band support slots for the likes of Pete Doherty, Dodgy and Mark Morris from the Bluetones.

Earlier this year the four piece released another EP this time a live one in the form of a set of live videos recorded at their studios called ‘Live at Elderfields Studios’. Featuring a reworked version of ‘The Hours’ from their debut EP and the unheard ‘Letters to Berlin’ it served to show the band’s live sound and how good that is as well as showcasing new material showing the band’s progress over the course of 6 months from the release of their first EP.

The band have spent the summer touring Europe and playing plenty of festivals including Fete De La Musique in France. The plans for the future of Florida Room now sees them in the studio working on that debut album and they are set to be touring the UK this Autumn as well so make sure you check them out if they are playing near you.
