6 of the Best... Tartan

Topshop short sleeve shirt, £38 / Topshop capri, £53 / Glamorous black romper / Vivienne Westwood drawstring bag, £650 / Retro headband, £6.30 / Brooks Brothers Wool Navy and Green Tartan Scarf, £125

Autumn is officially here and with that brings jumpers, coats and boots, all the best parts of fashion and the reason why I prefer A/W fashion to Summer fashion. Currently I’m in the middle of a ‘which coat should I buy’ dilemma with at least 6 amazing coats on my want list but unfortunately my bank balance will only stretch to the purchase of one not all of them. With the greatest time of year clothing-wise upon us I thought I’d start to round up some of the best items and trends of this coming season starting with the biggest trend of A/W 2013: Tartan.

I’m all over this trend and with tartan being all over the high street then there are plenty of opportunities to dip into the trend or go all out on it. I really do want some tartan trousers, they are the one tartan related purchase I need to make and Topshop in particular have lots of brilliant pairs instore. I love the above pair as they are so statement but there is also a nice blue and green tartan pair in Topshop right now too which would be a bit more wearable with plenty of other pieces, though I know both of which I would wear. I love tartan pinafores, they remind me of my childhood and they are definitely on my want list. Tartan t-shirts or shirts are something I’m not overly bothered about buying but the above one from Topshop is nice, basic, wearable and a good shape.

Accessories is definitely a good way to go if you are not overly confident about going all out on the prints – a tartan scarf or tartan bow for your hair are both easy to pull off and easy to wear and adds a nice pop of colour and print to any outfit. The Vivienne Westwood tartan bag is beautiful but a complete dream item as I know I would never be able to afford it but a girl can wish right? That is the whole point of wishlist’s after all. If you decide to step into the biggest trend of the season then there are plenty of options for you on all budgets, from suits to bags, shoes to shirts whether designer or bargain high street.

Will you be braving the Tartan trend this A/W?
