single release: circle of reason – annie may

Southampton alt-rocker’s Circle of Reason are back this December with a brilliant pre-Christmas treat for you all in the form of their new EP ‘Yesterday Already’. The upcoming release will showcase the softer and much more mellow side of this quartet and that is clear to see straight away from the first single taken from the EP, ‘Annie May’.

The ebb and flow of the gentle, intricate guitar melodies and soft percussion give a subdued atmosphere and almost swaying quality to this track. Though around two thirds of the way through the track the lighter sounds make way for strong vocals, crashing cymbals and a heavier guitar riff. Initially it shows their lighter side and a talent for producing music of a calmer nature but it also shows what this band have been about up until this point, full on rock tracks made brilliantly. With this first single being so great, it really does make you excited to hear what the rest of the EP has to offer.

You don’t have to wait much longer to find out either as ‘Yesterday Already’ is released on 23rd December, a mere 2 days before Christmas, a brilliant musical present from the band to us the listeners. After a wonderful year for the band, touring, releasing music and gaining attention from the music press such as Kerrang TV, Scuzz and Big Cheese Magazine, it is a nice way to round things off and start gearing up for 2014. A year that will see the band return with more songs and plenty of touring around the UK.

The EP ‘Yesterday Already’ will be available to download from 23rd December and the single ‘Annie May’ is available to download for free from Soundcloud now.
