The Reveurs are a four piece indie/rock outfit hailing from Manchester. As they state on their Facebook page their sole purpose is to; “write and perform anthemic tunes that will stick in your head.” And that is something they have acheived with their 1st two cuts ‘Hide and Seek’ and ‘Afterglow’, the first of which features a big drum sound, huge dirty melodic guitar riffs and a catchy rhythm throughout while the latter is slower with a prominent bassline and softer drums providing a steady rhythm for storytelling vocals and strumming guitar to build upon.
Scruff of the Neck Records: Mix Tape Vol. 1 by The Reveurs
The band may only have formed late last year but they are already working hard in order to make a name for themselves, with the two tracks they have created which take in their influences from the likes of Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes and combine that with their quick narrative and big instruments.
I caught up with the guys to find out a little more about them and what we can all expect from the band over the course of 2014:
How did you guys meet?
We all met through mutual friends and quickly established a love of great music. Listening and talking about music eventually lead to wanting to create and that’s exactly what we have done.
How would you describe your sound?
Loud, catchy melodic anthems that you can’t help to sing along to.
Who are the main influences on your sound?
The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Echo and the Bunnymen, there’s so many we could go on all day!
How did you come up with the name for your band?
We wanted something from a band name that was us, not just a generic phrase it had to describe us implicitly. We came together because we have our heads in the clouds, we all got told this through school and life in general! We always have! We all want more from life and we dream about bigger things! We are all dreamers and a Reveur is a dreamer, so we are ‘The Reveurs’.
What are your plans for this year? Tours, EP’s etc?
You’ll see and hear a lot more of us over the next six months. This is still just the beginning but keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for the release and tour dates. There’s a lot more to come!
It definitely seems like 2014 will be a busy and exciting year for the band and there will definitely be more to come for us all to enjoy.
