Cropped Top – New Look / Tartan Trousers – Urban Outfitters / Boots – Dorothy Perkins / Necklace – Vintage / Black Stone Ring – Vintage / Lipstick – Avon Lip Crayon in True Red
As much as I love tailoring and I love these trousers I sometimes find it difficult to find something to wear with such a statement pair of trousers. Also the tailoring of the trousers is something that I always feel very aware of when styling these as I feel that if I wear a shirt then it sort of makes me look like I’m either going to work, a meeting or an interview.
I think this outfit works though, the long sleeve crop top which is very figure hugging and the trousers that are a mix of fitted at the waist and the calves but nice and slouchy around the top of them is a good contrast. With such a strong pattern on the trousers I thought it was best to keep the top half a little more simple and the slight pattern on the top really compliments the strong red and green tartan.
Teamed with my absolute favourite boots that have pretty much not left my feet very often since I bought them a couple of months ago and a strong red lip with this bright red lip crayon from Avon finishes off this simple outfit. A plain oversized blazer or coat would go really well with this as well I think, just to finish the look off and really compliment the boyish tailoring of the rest of the outfit.
What do you guys think of tartan trousers and how would you wear them?

Love the trousers! I love that you braved double pattern. It looks good on you. I think I'd go all out punk if I had these! Include lots of studded and textured black tops 🙂 x
Thank you! 🙂 Yeah, it's very tempting to go full on punk with these trousers, I definitely think that whole look is something to experiment with a little.
