This Month I Have Been… March

March has been a pretty busy month for me with plenty of gigs, a trip to the cinema, plenty of meals out, day trips and planning Mother’s Day as well as trying to get the new house into some sort of order before going to Paris soon, I’ve not had much chance to sit down and appreciate stuff or start on some Spring cleaning which really really needs to be done. So here is a round up of March featuring what can only be described as my absolutely huge Game of Thrones obsession taking over my life and TV schedule, the shows I have been to and the many new purchases I’ve made as well as the beauty products I have been loving a lot this month and the tracks I can’t stop listening to. Let me know ow March has been for you.

Listening to: Disclosure’s debut ‘Settle’ – I still love this and as it nears summer I’m sure it’s going to the soundtrack to my summer yet again. Plenty of Rudimental and Bastille after their Brits collab and seeing Bastille at the end of February in Manchester. Lots of Fall Out Boy and revisiting their back catalogue plus relistening to ‘Save Rock and Roll’, my 15 year old self is well and truly back. Finally, We Are Scientists new album ‘TV En Francais’. It’s absolutely wonderful and easily my favourite album of the year so far, read my review of it here.

Check out this month’s playlist of tracks that I’ve been listening to a hell of a lot below:

Watching: Game of Thrones Series 3, The Fifth Estate, Girls Season 3, True Detective.

Reading: March and April issues of Company, Clash Magazine guest edited by Elton John, ‘A Long Way Down’ by Nick Hornby.

Eating/Baking/Cooking:

Quorn Chicken and Soy Noodles, Dark Chocolate and Raisin Square Muffins

Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake at Homemade by Thelma’s.

Buying: quite a few new pieces for my wardrobe, plenty of beauty buys and a few new books.

H&M Haul – Palm Tree Print Jumper, Denim Style Jumper, Black Bodycon Skirt, Black Vest

Boots Haul including Charles Worthington haircare and new Simple products

A Red Gingham Skirt from Gracie Airs and a Purple and White Striped Tea Dress from the Vintage Fair in Sheffield this month

An Amber Ring from Amazon

A few Primark purchases – Pewter Chunky Heel Sandals, Flamingo Boxy T-shirt and Red Tights.

Plenty of books in honour of World Book Day being this month including The White Princess by Philippa Gregory and Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins to complete my Hunger Games triology.

A Clinque mini haul – review coming soon

Loving: Marc Jacobs Honey, Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow in ‘On and On Bronze’ and Maybelline Street Artist Top Coats in ‘Alley Attitude’ and ‘Boom Box Black’.

Marc Jacobs – Honey: As we move into Spring my beloved Lola by Marc Jacobs is switched up for lighter fragrances like Daisy by Marc Jacobs but now also Honey. After getting this for Christmas I’ve worn it a lot and it’s such a lovely sweet but fresh spring fragrance. I was a little worried at first that it may be overly sweet being called Honey after all but luckily it wasn’t, there is just a hint which I love. Any more and I would have hated it as I hate overly sweet perfumes but this is perfect and a nice addition to my perfume collection.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle: My hair officially loves Aussie products. Since switching to them last year my hair has been in better condition, the natural blonde of my hair is much lighter than it has been in a long time without seeing much sun as well and my hair stays cleaner for much longer. The 3 minute miracles I’ve been using for a couple of months now twice a week as a bit of a treat for my hair, I don’t use much heat on it but with it being so long now I do have to really look after it a lot more and these are really helping with that, keeping my hair in the best condition it’s been in for a long long time.
Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow in On and On Bronze: I love these eyeshadows so much, they are one of my absolute favourite make up products at the moment as they just apply so easily, blend well, give good colour pay off and last a very long time. This particular colour is great for a subtle daytime look just adding a slight bit of colour and shimmer to the eyes or can be built up for a stronger night-time look for a different take on the traditional smokey eye.
Maybelline Street Artist Top Coats in Alley Attitude and Boom Box Black: I love the Color Show polishes by Maybelline for their colour pay off, good wear and ease of application and these top coats are no exception. I bought the Boom Box Black first as a bit of an impulse purchase and after being so impressed with the look I achieved [see above] and the fact it lasted over a week without chipping that I went straight out and bought some more, taking full advantage of the 3 for 2 in Boots. Whether over similar colours, clashing colours or on their own, they look amazing with the black and green or blue large and small glitter pieces. The only downside is getting them off the nails but bar that they are brilliant for their affordable price.

Seeing: Bastille at O2 Apollo, Manchester and Fall Out Boy at Birmingham NIA and Manchester MEN

Bastille

Fall Out Boy

Great links: Literally one of my favourite videos ever highlighting the extreme vocabulary differences between the North and South and in some cases between Sheffield and Barnsley as me and my friend discovered when we watched this together.

Checking out Company Magazine’s 50 Books You Need To Read Before You Die list and seeing how many I’ve read on the list – FYI I’ve read 9 so far and around 6 are on my bookshelves waiting to be read. How many on the list have you read?

Everyone loves a Buzzfeed quiz right? They are clearly the perfect way to spend your time. With it being World Book Day this month, I included a ‘Which Type of Book Are You?’ quiz [[CLICK HERE TO TAKE IT!] I got hardback book because apparently I have a great story to share with the world. What did you get?

More Buzzfeed fun, this time about cats because the internet loves cats and so do I. Find out some truths about cat behaviour right here.
