The Throwback Tuesday weekly post is a opportunity for me to revisit the good, cheesy, forgotten or essential parts of music, film, tv and books from my childhood, the past few years or the generations/eras/works of art that have influenced my life in some way.
This week I decided to feature a film that I have loved for many years and that was on over the Easter weekend reminding me of my love for the film and the book. That film is 101 Dalmatians and it truly is one of my all time favourite childhood stories.
When I was younger I read the book a hell of a lot and watched the cartoon version of the film a fair few times too. It was as I said a favourite of mine and I loved the story of good outsmarting evil in the way the dogs outsmart Cruella De Vil in the end. Cruella is also probably one of my favourite villains too, evil yet a total fashionista, she clearly spoke to my future fashion loving self somewhere along the line.
I must admit I’m not a massive fan of films that centre on animals, unless they are animated or Babe [who doesn’t love Babe], but this is one of the exceptions. The dogs in the film for a start are mega cute and though I’m not a dog person at all the film did make me want a dalmatian for a while back when I was a child. Watching the film now, it’s still a story that I love and to see so many actors that I know from other things like Harry Potter etc now is quite amazing to see just how good a cast it is for essentially a kids film.
Whatever happens as I get older, if this is on TV then I will make an effort to watch it, it’s a story I will never get bored of. Below is a clip from the film so relive your childhood or alternatively if you’ve never seen it before go and watch it now, I’m sure it’ll be mega cheap on DVD from HMV or Amazon.
