Orange Crochet Shorts – New Look / 8-Bit Bow Vest – Drop Dead Clothing / Oversized Denim Shirt – Vintage / Socks – George at Asda / Pewter Wedge Sandals – Primark / Parrot Necklace – Avon / Flower Crown – Leeds Festival
For years now, I’ve had only one rule when it came to fashion ‘NEVER EVER pair socks and sandals!’ but ever the fashion trend follower I just had to try out this current trend for myself. If I’m honest I’m not sure how I feel about it I mean it feels a bit weird socks and sandals together but the socks and sandals I have chosen are much more fashion forward and ‘on trend’ than the horrible nightmarish pictures of faded white socks and brown velcro sandals of the past that have been etched in my brain as the very trend to avoid. I’m not sure if I’m ready to embrace the trend fully though some bloggers manage to pull it off so well it persuades you that you can too, whether I can or not is another story. What do you think of the socks and sandals trend? Yes or no?
It’s Tramlines Festival in my fair city this weekend and the above outfit is something I will be sporting over the course of the weekend either on the Friday night substituting a rucksack for a smaller crossover bag or for the Saturday or Sunday daytime which will see the height of the heels replaced with either sandals or sneakers depending on the weather of course.
Though the rest of the outfit for me is perfect city festival attire: statement shorts in a colour so bright they do all the talking and the crocheted layers means that dancing along to bands will be all the more fun. A cute basic crop to keep my cool in heat but easily layered for any turn in the weather or as the chill of the evening starts to roll in. The oversized denim shirt which is one of my favourite basic pieces, something I’ve owned for years, cost around £5 and I know I would never part with. It’s a piece that I can throw on top of pretty much any outfit and I know it will look good especially for festivals. The rucksack is a new purchase, only 5 English Pounds in the Asda sale, it’s quite a bright summery statement piece and the perfect size to fit in all my festival essentials to see me through a full day running round the city trying to catch as many bands as possible. Tying the whole thing up with a nod to my favourite trend: tropical, with a parrot necklace from Avon which I adore and has become a much loved member of my pretty small jewellery collection and of course a flower crown. We all know that no festival outfit would be complete without a flower crown, this is a pretty basic one that I picked up at last year’s Leeds Festival but I’ve seen some amazing ones in Primark that I may just have to own.
Would you wear this outfit to the festival in the city? And are you coming to Tramlines? If you are make sure you say hi if you see me!
