new music: A Higher Demise

This week, I have a brand new signing to one of the most impressive labels going for you all to listen to. A Higher Demise are a metal-core five piece from South East London who have spent the past two years growing their fan base, talents and sound catching the attention of many from their energetic live shows along to way.

Above is their latest track ‘It’s A Trap’ which has recently been released to the internet via a YouTube stream building up their fans anticipation perfectly for their forthcoming EP ‘The Doctor Will See You Now’. An oscillating piano brings us in with its slightly chilling feel to it before chugging guitars, fast pounding drums, deep bass and screaming aggressive vocals are added. This is a very heavy track and reminds me a lot of the heyday of metal-core and screamo that I used to listen to a lot from 2004-2006. Mixed with more flowing guitar melodies and harmonious sung vocals at certain points, it takes this song from straight up in your face heavy sounds to having an air of softness that occasionally peers out of the track. A great choice for their first single.

The new EP was produced by Jason Wilson, who has worked with the likes of You Me At Six and Ghost of a Thousand in the past, and together they have produced an impressive set of heavy, alt-metal tracks from the sounds of the single and a couple of preview tracks [‘All These Reasons’ and ‘My Therapist Knows You By Name’] I have heard. With an ever growing back catalogue of great tracks and their reputation as an exciting live act that has seen them draw comparisons to the likes of Bring Me The Horizon and Of Mice & Men, it seems like things are are only going to get more exciting for this band.

For the rest of the year it will see the release of that EP as well as touring with label mates Inherit The Stars later this year, both things should definitely help the band reach a bigger and new audience along the way.
