The Throwback Tuesday weekly post is a opportunity for me to revisit the good, cheesy, forgotten or essential parts of music, film, tv and books from my childhood, the past few years or the generations/eras/works of art that have influenced my life in some way.
Ok so I’ve only started watching Scandal this month after scouring Sky OnDemand for a new series to watch. I’d heard a lot about this especially as Season 3 is currently airing now so I instantly downloaded Season 1 and watched it in about 2 days. Then I downloaded Season 2 and an obsession was born.

Season 2 is a lot longer, 22 episodes instead of Season 1’s 7, but it has been brilliant from the off so it is understandable why the producers decided to go for a longer series. The magic is that it doesn’t lose it’s brilliance or mystery by being a longer series, the storylines are still amazing and complex and I love the characters particularly Olivia Pope, seriously how badass is she?!
I am completely obsessed with this show and I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but for me this has filled a TV boxset shape hole that Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds and The Vampire Diaries have all left behind. So what is it all about you ask? Well it’s pretty complicated and I’m no good at explaining plot lines but let’s just say that Olivia is a fixer, you have a problem go to her. She works with a bunch of lawyers who all have their own dirty or terrible pasts and then there are Olivia’s high profile pals and that affair she had with the President of the United States.
Season 1 was so amazing that I was quite worried whether a longer series for the 2nd outing would run things but it really hasn’t and if anything I’m enjoying the constant twists and turns that accompany the smaller storylines of cases that change each episode. If you are after something a little different to watch that feature US politics, plenty of lawyer speak, sarcastic comments, badass women and lots of scandals then this is the show for you.
If all that hasn’t already convinced you to turn in already, then view the trailer for Season 1 below:
