tracks of the week #80

The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale of New York

So earlier this week I shared with you one of my favourite Christmas songs, Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’, in my throwback Tuesday post. I thought it would be perfect to follow that up in this week’s tracks with one of my other favourites and I’m pretty convinced a favourite of everyone’s; Fairytale of New York. I can’t even describe to you why I love this track so much apart from the obvious that it is great and an absolute Christmas classic.

Arcade Fire – We Exist

I’ve loved Arcade Fire for a long time but I really rediscovered my love for them this year after watching their headline Glasto set on TV this summer. The set was by far one of the best headline sets I’ve ever seen at that festival or any and whether you are a fan of their music or not you can’t really deny that a) they are brilliant live and b) they pour so much fun and energy into every single song when playing live. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs and as this is my last tracks of the week post for 2015 I thought it was fitting to end on a band and track that has really been a huge feature of 2014 for me.
