new music: Monster Jaw – Lidocaine

Last year saw indie/alt-rock trio Monster Jaw release their second EP ‘Losing All My Friends’, a release that has seen the band gain positive reactions from many corners with its fusion of sounds from new wave to grunge and its fresh take on retro sounds. The end of 2014 saw the band release the art house style mini film for the new single ‘Lidocaine’, which you can see below:

The video features appearances from UK alternative model Zombie Cat Girl and method actor Mark Morris, it is a video that tells the story of addiction, relationships and an independent young woman who refuses to be stereotyped. While the song itself is a lilting lethargic affair from the vocals until cymbals crash and atmospheric guitars become big, punky riffs for the choruses.

The track was being offered for free download for the band but at time of publication I don’t think that is still the case but check their Soundcloud page just in case. The band had a great 2014 and the next 12 months looks set to be even better with touring announcements and new releases in the pipeline for the beginning of this year.
