new music: The SSS – Morning Light

Sheffield band The SSS have been making quite a stir on the music scene in the Steel City lately. After putting up a bunch of tracks of their Soundcloud page and hitting the live scene as much as possible, gracing the stages of the likes of O2 Academy and The Greystones, they have already built up quite an impressive fanbase in quite a short space of time.

A great bass line runs underneath this entire track giving it a great rock and roll edge. The guitars build through good riffs and fast strums while the drums range from softer, rhythm keeping beats to heavier and faster hits in the choruses. This is a great modern day indie rock track with a clear Brit edge. There are definitely influences from older British indie and rock greats to be found throughout this but fundamentally it is a really very good track in its own right.

Having on been together since late 2013, the band have worked hard over the last 12 months or so to become a fixture of Sheffield alternative music scene. With influences from the likes of Joy Division to Band of Skulls and The Courteeners, it all makes for a great mix of catchy and wonderful sounds from many years gone by. They are a band definitely worth checking out with some great tracks under their belts already, if you are in Sheffield make sure you watch out for these guys at a local venue over the next few months.
