Caribou – Odessa
I’ve heard a lot about Caribou recently, especially from Lauren Laverne’s twitter as she mentions them a lot, so I decided that it was about time I saw what all the Caribou hype was all about. Let me tell you these guys didn’t disappoint. Funky bass lines, dance-laden rhythms and some great hushed monotone vocals. If you are after a mix of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip, then these guys are the act for you to get in your ears right now, trust me you won’t regret it.
Banks – Bedroom Wall
Banks is one of my favorite female artists to emerge over the last couple of years. Her wonderful vocals, which seem so fragile in parts and so huge in others, are always perfectly set against some great beats and perfectly ambient sounds making for utterly stunning tracks. This Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs track is no different either. She’s already released a great debut album last year and I can’t wait to her more from this great asset to the music scene.
