Shirt – Primark / Trousers – Topshop / Loafers – New Look / Hat – H&M / Bag – Marc B / Necklace – H&M / Watch – Casio
The last outfit from my Valentine’s City Guide post is this daytime date look which I’ve lovingly titled pyjama chic because those prints just scream pyjamas to me. These trousers I’ve had for a long time and have made a pledge to myself to wear more since I decided I wasn’t getting rid when I cleared my wardrobe out earlier this year. Admittedly they are not a perfect fit anymore, ok on the legs but way to big on my waist and with no belt loops that makes for a bit of an issue but regardless I love them and I’m going to style them up as much as possible this year.
My first styling attempt went with this shirt, for some this may be too much pattern but the diamond print of the trousers works well with horizontal stripes I think. The colour scheme is quite basic with the navy and white of the shirt being picked out on the trousers too, a good thing to keep in mind when playing with patten to keep the colour scheme around only a couple of colours. A classic trousers and shirt look could only be made better with the addition of a pair of monochrome loafers, a hat and a quirky cat face bag. Minimal jewellery as is the norm for me and this is a daytime outfit that could be worn for work, lunch, dates or shopping.
What is your opinion on mixing patterns/prints like this? Good idea or bad?
