Speedy Ortiz – Raising The Skate
This is another one that I first heard on 6Music while listening to the wonderful Mary Anne Hobbs. As soon as I heard it I needed to know who this was, I found out and I’m glad I did so I can listen to this whenever and wherever I like. The grungey, new wave punk feel to this one is just awesome and vocally, it reminds me a lot of Courtney Barnett, who I initially thought it was when I heard the track. I really love everything about this and I know they will be an act I try and find out more about, they are definitely one to look out for if you love the likes of Courtney Barnett, Garbage and the likes.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra – Multi-Love
Ever since hearing this track on 6Music a few weeks ago, I haven’t been able to stop listening to this. It is a really great upbeat track and one that will be stuck in your head for hours and days to come after listening to it. I’ve never really listened to these guys before hearing this track either so it is always good to discover a new act and have a rummage through their backcatalogue and that is exactly why I love 6Music so much for the new music and older favourites I can discover every single day.
