From Bridal Wear to Evening Appropriate

Recently, the wonderful people over at Weddington Way, a Wedding Party Fashion retailers, inspired me to put together an outfit for the evening based around one of their dresses. I chose Joanna August Dani Long Dress in ‘Silver Bells’, which you can check out below along with the rest of my outfit. The chiffon dress retails at $285 which is around £250, more than reasonable for a bridesmaid dress and maybe a little over what I’d normally pay for an eveningwear centrepiece but it is something that could be worn again and again. You can check out their full range of chiffon dresses here.

I chose this particular dress for two reasons, firstly because I love the cut and secondly, the colour is loevly. There are over 20 different colours to choose from for this particular dress so there is a colour to suit every skin tone which is great given that most places just stock basic colours so you may love the cut but hate the colours available and that is definitely not the case here.

For me, the shape is perfect with the long length, thin and complimenting straps and a slight v shaped line, it would suit shape and style perfectly, fitting in all the right places and making me feel super comfortable. The straps are a big thing for me as I never ever wear strapless dresses so finding a new dress with good and decent straps is a must and the long length, which is not something I usually opt for but I love it here and I think the flowing fabric and cut makes this a lot easier to take from occasionwear to eveningwear in my opinion.

Evening Wear #1

So above is the outfit that I have put together including the dress I spoke about above. I’ve paired this with a black longline blazer from Asos and some New Look chunky tan sandals making this the perfect summer evening outfit for a night out with the girls or a date. The heeled sandals give it a perfect casual but also put together look while the blazer looks smart and also takes off the invitable chill that occurs later in the night during the British summer.

The beaded silver bag from New Look is something I’ve personally been lusting after for ages. The small clutch bag with an added shoulder strap is perfect for all evening events, big or small, and it is something that would easily dress up any outfit with the beautiful beading detail. Jewellery-wise, I’ve tried to keep things simple and tie it in with the colour schemes found throughout the clothing. The boho style jewellery around at the moment is something I really love and is something I’ve incorporated through the rings and earrings both from Topshop. A chunky leather strap watch from Asos and the thin and simple bracelet from Topshop finish the look with some gorgeous wristwear, all of which making me wish I paid much more attention to the jewellery I wear on a daily basis.

Finally, make up wise I’d keep things simple with a statement bronze smokey eye and a deep plum toned red with those rich tones working against the statement colour of the dress. For the nails, a lovely gold is always the way to go for a night out in my opinion, simple but effective.

So, there we have it my evening wear outfit based around a bridesmaid dress. What do you think of this outfit?
