I’ve never been a massive fan of summer, it is probably my least favourite season but nevertheless I like the freedom of the season. The sense of being able to get away with doing more things you don’t get to do in winter because the days are longer and the weekends have much nicer weather. This summer could end up being a busy and stressful one for me but regardless I plan on setting some goals and activies that I want to tick off my list this summer which you can check out below:
Attend a Festival: This one will be easy to tick off as I’ve already got tickets for Y Not festival at the end of next month and I’ll be popping along to Tramlines too. It’s the best of both worlds really, the latter where I can just pop into the town centre and soak up the music and festival atmosphere and the former the full experience of camping, music, fun, booze and friends.
Read more: This summer, I plan to get through at least 2 long books or 4 shorter novels. I’m currently reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin and have been sucked into the GoT universe even further. I’ve nearly finished that book and plan on reading the second straight after. It is a long book so depending on how much time I have left of the summer when I finish it this could be easy to acheive.
Rewatch the Star Wars Trilogy: I watched these many times when I was a kid and through the early teenage years but I haven’t watched them in a while. I want to rewatch them before the latest film is released later this year and while my programmes are on a summer break I may as well fill that TV watching time with these great films.
Go to the seaside: I love the seaside, it is brilliant and regardless of my sheer hatred of sand, I love spending a day at the good British seaside. There are plenty of lovely seaside towns in Yorkshire so it would be nice to go back to one of them again because there are always good times to be had at the beaches in this county.
Drink more water and try new salad recipes: A slightly more sensible goal for this summer but a necessary one. I plan on drinking more water than I do, I drink a lot anyway but I want to cut out sugary drinks and replace them with water instead this summer. Also, as much as I’m always striving for new recipes I always seem to ignore looking at salad recipes and I seem to get stuck in a salad rut. I want to try more elaborate salads with grains, veg, lentils etc and I also want to perfect a couple of good and healthy salad dressing recipes too. Here is to more kitchen experimentation this summer.
