My Summer Reading List

A Song of Ice and Fire Series: A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin – After recently finishing the first book in the series ‘A Game of Thrones’ I decided to continue on the GoT journey a little further by picking up the next book in the series. Having watched the TV series before reading the books I can say series 1 follows the first book very well with only a couple of things being missed out so I’m expecting more of the same from Book 2 and I’m sure I will enjoy this one just as much as the last.

Us by David Nicholls – As much as I love the GoT series so far and have most of the other books ready to go, I sometimes like to take a break or two throughout a book series to free myself of the characters and the world a little bit and read something a little less all consuming. This is where ‘Us’ comes in, I love David Nicholls novels as the two I’ve read so far have been utterly brilliant, so I imagine this one will be just as good. I’ve heard many good things about it and it seems like the type of story I’m drawn to so I can see this being a very enjoyable summer read.

Touching from A Distance: Ian Curtis and Joy Division by Deborah Curtis – I bought this book some time last year and somehow haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I love Joy Division and after watching Control a couple of years ago, which this book was the inspiration for, I decided it was time to read this book. Written by Ian’s wife, I imagine this will be quite a sad but also heartwarming book chronicling the life of a troubled man who’s life was cut tragically short.
