The track is a perfect example of good alt-rock music from the UK right now. Starting off slowly and quietly before kicking in with pounding drums and crashing cymbals. When it comes to the first verse things slow, subsiding to flowing rhythms and great intricate guitar melodies. The vocals remain unchanging throughout, being the stalwart that holds this whole thing in place while the sounds around it ebb and flow and change with the song. The choruses have a danceable edge with their infectious guitar lines and great moments. A really good follow up track from these guys.
The release of this track in August saw the start of what is set to be a busy time for the quartet with them embarking on a UK tour in Septemeber and October taking in everywhere from Lincoln to Sheffield, Essex to Newcastle. They’ll also be releasing their debut EP ‘Hiraeth’. Taking influences from some of the best bands around at the moment including Biffy Clyro, Mallory Knox and Don Broco, the guys have used those influences in the creation of their sound and as a springboard for their live shows which have been described as powerful and energetic.
It seems like it will be a busy Autumn and Winter for these guys and it should be a very exciting time for them as they ultimately grow their fanbase over those coming months. They are a band to keep an eye on over the rest of this year with Backseat Mafia having this to say about the band; “Years Young are a band you need to take note of”.
