Today, I’m bringing you some new music from Dutch-English singer/songwriter Gitta de Ridder. The up and coming artist has just released the video for her first single, ‘Alternate Reality’, taken from the upcoming debut album and you can check it out below:

The heartbreakingly gentle track is utterly stunning throughout. High pitched angelic vocals harmonise perfectly sitting above softly plucked guitar strings, sweeping violins and shimmering cymbals. As the song builds to its crescendo, acoustic guitars strum faster and drums create a dramatic undertone but though the tempo has shifted, things still remain beautifully fragile to the end of this song.

Spending her childhood in the Netherlands, she spent her late teens travelling around Europe before settling in the UK to make this country her home. Living in London, plenty of the poetic and musical history of England has influenced her and seeped into her songwriting which is full of emotional and engaging lyrics.

De Ritter released her first EP ‘Come Find Me’ at the start of 2015 and she soon picked up radio airplay from the likes of 6Music and several Dutch national stations. She’s noe continuing her musical journey with the release of the first single from her soon to be released debut LP. The self-produced track sees her showcasing her talents as producer, bassist, cellist as well as singer/songwriter as she develops her own sound to become an all round musical artist.

It has been an exciting and successful year for Gitta and that is sure to continue in 2016 with the release of her very first full length album. Keep an eye on this girl, she’s definitely one to watch for the future.
