new music: Amaryllis

Today, I’m bringing you some new music from London based pop rock four piece Amaryllis. The quartet have recently revealed the details of their debut album ‘Nova Initium’, which is due out this week on 13th May, and was accompanied by the first single to be taken from that album, ‘Thorn’, which you can check the video out for below:

The track is a great rock-fuelled one from the off with building, fuzzy guitar notes holding the fore while deep bass echo around your ears intermittently and the clatter of cymbals add to that ever increasing expectation of the moment when everything will come crashing in. Great vocal harmonies sit very well against those harsh guitar notes and the pounding of the drums, all of which create a fast tempo which urges you on to dance along. The pre-final chorus breakdown gives you the slightest moment of breathing space before everything crashes in again, more urgent than before this time ending this one on a brilliant note.

With their last release seeing the band sell out their headline show in London and their EP gaining over 10,000 downloads, there are high hopes from many for this next released. The band have focussed on new writing and playing styles on the album and have pushed emotion, vocal harmonies and great choruses to the forefront of their music.

Here’s what front woman Sante Moonie has to say about the new chapter for the band; “We feel with everything we write, naturally we want it to always be better than what we last wrote. No one wants to hear the same thing twice… Compared to our last two EP’s, this new record shows exactly that. We spent more time on creating exactly how we wanted to sound and its listeners can expect a much more mature and developed Amaryllis sound.”

The band are on tour this month taking in dates in Norwich, Birmingham and Leeds from 20th to 22nd and they play Camden Rock Festival in London on 4th June. The single ‘Thorn’ is available to download now and you can pre-order the album digitally on their Bandcamp page or for physical copies, visit their Bigcartel page!
