new music: mt wolf.

Mt. Wolf are a four piece band from South London and they create some quite dreamy sounding music. I first read about the band in the latest issue of Clash magazine and gave them a listen on Soundcloud, the first song I heard was one of their own and the second was a cover of ‘Climax’ by Usher and listening to that I went from quite liking this band to really loving their sound a lot.

As I’ve said before the music is dreamy, it’s atmospheric and it really is a sound you can sit back and relax to. The vocals imparticular sit well against the meandering melodies giving you something to really latch onto. If you have had a stressful day and need to just chill out and forget about the troubles of the world then these are definitely one of the perfect bands to be listening to. Described on their Facebook page as ‘Dreamy Folk’ and it’s been mentioned a few times by reviewers about having a darker side to their songs too.

So far the band have released an EP entitled ‘Life Size Ghosts’, a four song long EP that featured on the main page on iTunes after it’s release at the end of October 2012 under the ‘What We’re Listening To’ banner. High praise indeed from the largest music download site. The EP was released on 12″ vinyl and digital download only something which is becoming more and more common with releases from newer bands especially.

For this year, I imagine there will probably be an album released somewhere throughout the course of the year and festivals seem like the obvious path they will take throughout the summer. The one thing that is confirmed for definite though is a show at London’s XOYO in February which is close to selling out I think so act fast for tickets, which you can get from here.

To find out more about the band visit their website, their Facebook page or check out their music on Soundcloud.
