ootd: valentine’s day cliche

Meet my outfit for Valentine’s Day, I know red, it’s such a cliche but I do love this dress a lot. The outfit first made its appearance in the Valentine’s Day City Guide I put together for Quiz Clothing that went up on here last week [check it out here].

I wanted to feature this dress properly though so here it is in all its lacy glory. My boyfriend bought me this for Christmas and again I’m impressed with his shopping skills in picking something out for me that I truly like a lot. The dress fits absolutely perfectly and I adore the slightly fuller skirt at the bottom that kind of reminds me of all the cute little dresses I wore as a child. I love lace dresses but I usually stick to black or white as some of the coloured laces are a little garish but this red one though bright is lovely and surprisingly I find the bright red quite easy to wear.

The dress came with the black waistbelt I’m wearing so accessorising was quite simple just a nice necklace and a lovely bag was all I needed. I added silver brogues to make this look slightly more comfortable but also a bit more appropriate for daytime instead of dressing it up completely with heels. The black blazer though is smart enough to make this a more tailored look and as we all know black and red always work very well together.
